    Behavioral Health is a dynamic service line within the Penn Highlands Healthcare system with an expanding footprint in West-Central PA. Penn Highlands Behavioral Health was awarded the prestigious Press Gainey Guardian of Excellence quality award for the last four years.  As part of an overall facilities growth and expansion plan, Penn Highlands Behavioral Health is constructing a new Behavioral Health Center of Excellence in DuBois, PA.  A new three story patient tower is being added to the existing behavioral health campus which will allow for growth from the current 44 inpatient beds to 120 inpatient beds, and expand such services as child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric inpatient treatment, as well as ad new services such as substance abuse detox and rehabilitation, psychiatric urgent care and ECT.  The successful candidate should have progressive nursing management experience in a Behavioral Health setting, with proven ability to lead, guide and direct a staff of over 100 RN’s, LPS’s and Personal Care Assistants.  This individual will play a key role in the growth and development of the overall nursing program at this new Behavioral Health Center of Excellence.

    Responsibilities

    *Complies with PENN HIGHLANDS DUBOIS policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal,  state or local law and regulations.

     

    • Provide leadership and direction to nursing and direct care staff in all Behavioral Health Locations in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate leadership competencies for relationship management with staff, colleagues, customers, physicians, external contacts, and others in the course of their work.
    • Develops and provides operational oversight of the comprehensive inpatient and outpatient psychiatric nursing treatment programs in all Behavioral Health Locations.
    • Provides leadership to ensure patient care is provided in a knowledgeable, consistent, skillful, and genuine manner.
    • Provides clinical oversight and direction to nursing staff performing nursing assessments, focusing on all aspects of total patient care needs (medical, physical, spiritual, cognitive, emotional and social).
    • Manages effective Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives for the department.
    • Focuses on Evidenced-Based Practice/Outcome Measurement.
    • Assists with the preparation of the Department’s annual budget.
    • Develops realistic budget projections for revenue and capital/wage/operational expenses.
    • Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended for nursing operations.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License or Temporary Practice Permit.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
    • Master’s Degree obtained within three (3) years of the date of hire.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a Behavioral Health setting.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing management experience.
    • Current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification required.
    • Comprehensive Crisis Management certification required within 12 months of start date.
    • Specialty certification preferred.
