    Position Summary: Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of equipment. THE TECHNICIAN PROVIDES CLINICAL RESPONSIBILIITY TO THE GI LAB LOCATED AT THE WEST CAMPUS AND TO THE ENDOSCOPY CENTER LOCATED AT THE MAIN STREET BUILDING.

    Responsibilities

    *Complies with PENN HIGHLANDS DUBOIS policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulations

     
    *Demonstrates competency in Technician  role, as evidenced by but not limited to:

    • Assists nursing personnel with procedure set up when available
    • Cleans and maintains equipment
    • Maintains cleanliness of clean and dirty utility rooms
    • Maintains order within equipment storage areas
    • Provides assistance to GI Lab/Endoscopy staff based on the priority of needs and available resources
    • Record and maintain daily records of tests and scopes used
    • Perform end of month documentation for GI Lab and Endoscopy Center

    *Participates in the development of new staff as evidenced by but not limited to:

    • Actively participates in the orientation including cultural and social integration of new staff

    *Demonstrates personal accountability as evidenced by but not limited to:

    • Achieves educational credits to meet hospital and/or licensing/certification requirements
    • Shares information obtained at education conferences to staff members
    • Participates in implementing departmental initiatives
    • Conducts self in professional manner in dress, actions, and interpersonal communication
    • Ensures environment of safety for patients, significant others, and coworkers
    • Informs Department Director/ Supervisor/Service Line Director/ Clinical Manager of patient care situations and departmental problems as appropriate
    • Demonstrates effective problem solving skills for clinical and departmental issues

    *Obtains and maintains current Registered Central Supply Technician certification

     
    *Maintains current CPR certification

     
    *General duties as directed

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Endoscope Reprocessor Certification must be obtained within 12 months of start date in department/position.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
