    THE COST ACCOUNTING ANALYST WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING AND MAINTAINING COST ACCOUNTING FUNCTION FOR MULTI-HOSPITAL SYSTEM. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE MEETING WITH DEPARTMENT LEADERS TO DETERMINE COSTS (FIXED, VARIABLE, DIRECT AND INDIRECT) AND IMPLEMENT METHODOLOGIES INTO SYSTEM-WIDE DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM. MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO OTHER HOSPITAL SITES (WITHIN 40 MILE RADIUS). INITIAL COST METHODS WILL NEED DEVELOPED AND MAINTAINED GOING FORWARD. WILL ALSO ENSURE DEPARTMENTAL COSTS ARE CAPTURED VIA THE GENERAL LEDGER SYSTEM ACCURATELY. ONCE IMPLEMENTED, DATA WILL NEED TO BE CONSISTENTLY ANALYZED AND MAINTAINED TO ENSURE ACCURACY OF NUMBERS. WILL ASSIST WITH OTHER ANALYSIS PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED, WITH THE ABILITY TO HANDLE MULTIPLE PROJECTS CONCURRENTLY WHILE MEETING DEADLINES.

     

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Build/maintain cost accounting module within health system’s decision support system (currently EPSi)
      • Run monthly costing processes within the modules
      • Modify cost variables as needed
      • Build new departments
    • Analyze charges/expenses by department periodically
      • Ensure that what is being charged has a matching expense
      • Work with chargemaster staff to be aware of any pricing changes
      • Work with cost report analyst to be aware of step-down costs
    • Completion of accounting/analysis projects as assigned
      • Proformas, profit & loss statements
      • Service line analysis
      • Miscellaneous ad hoc analysis
    • All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ACCOUNTING OR RELATED FIELD (WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF GENERAL ACCOUNTING), REQUIRED
    • 3-5 YEARS PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • AT LEAST 2 IN COST ACCOUNTING PREFERRED.
    • MUST HAVE A STRONG COST ACCOUNTING BACKGROUND
    • EXCELLENT ANALYTICAL SKILLS
    • EXCELLENT WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS
    • PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE
    • STRONG COMPUTER SKILLS (EXCEL)
