THE RETAIL PHARMACY CLERK IS RESPONSIBLE TO THE RETAIL PHARMACY MANAGER. UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF A PHARMACIST THE CLERK ASSISTS CUSTOMERS AT CHECK-OUT UTILIZING A COMPREHENSIVE POS SYSTEM. CLEANS AND ORGANIZES THE OTC (OVER-THE-COUNTER) MEDICATION SECTION OF THE STORE AND THE AREAS WHERE DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT ARE STORED.
*Complies with PHD policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulations
Operate a comprehensive POS system.
Maintain assigned work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
Answer telephones when appropriate and within legal guidelines and direct calls to appropriate personnel when needed.
Ensure that the security and proper storage of OTC medications is maintained.
Restocks products on the OTC shelves, front/face and properly organize the OTC shelves, and clean the OTC shelves as needed.
Inspects OTC medications and products for outdates on at least a quarterly basis.
Assist customers with locating items in the OTC section and answer simple questions relating to the OTC products.
Direct customers to the pharmacist(s) for clarification on issues concerning OTC drug indication, dosing, adverse effects and interactions etc
Maintain the cleanliness of the OTC area, DME (durable medical equipment) area, consultation rooms and waiting area.
Order OTC medication as needed and update the inventory.
Modifying pricing in the POS system and price sticker all OTC merchandise.
Sort and alphabetize all prescriptions for patient/customer pick-up.
Demonstrate and Perform the Core Behaviors (5 C’s) of Penn Highlands Healthcare (caring attitude, confidentiality, communication, collaboration, and customer satisfaction)
Others duties as assigned.
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT REQUIRED.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A RETAIL SETTING PREFERRED.
TYPING/COMPUTER SKILLS INCLUDING MICROSOFT OFFICE.
PRIOR INVENTORY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
