The Staff Technologist performs multiple and varied medical laboratory tests, in an accurate, precise, and timely manner. Monitors quality control material and other practices involved with effective laboratory protocol.



  • * Complies with DRMC polices and procedures, with accreditation agency requirements, federal, state, or local law and regulations.
  • Phlebotomy of all types of patients, includes proper ID of the patient and the maintenance and integrity of specimens
  • Receives patient specimens and performs both qualitative & quantitative tests according to documented policy and procedures
  • Performs maintenance and troubleshooting, on equipment as required by policy
  • Performs required quality control and calibrations and takes appropriate documented remedial action when the quality control is not within limits
  • Establishes procedures for new laboratory testing to be introduced into the Laboratory
  • Calls and faxes reports to nursing stations, physicians', and outside healthcare providers, including notification of all panic results
  • Instructs Medical Lab Technicians, Phlebotomists, and employee’s in training (when feasible), in Laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Sends specimens to necessary facilities when test is not performed in-house and coordinates reports from outside laboratories
  • Performs certain clerical and technical functions necessary in reporting patient requests
  • General Duties as directed.


  • Degree in Medical Technology with registry obtained within 1 year of hire with ASCP/AMT or a degree in a related field with previous training and currently registered as a Medical Technologist with ASCP or AMT required.
  • Good reasoning and communication skills with the ability to multi-task required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite preferred.
